Brive-la-gaillarde

Town, Corr�ze d�partement, Limousin r�gion, south-central France. It lies along the Corr�ze River west of the Massif Central, south of Limoges. Rock caves nearby show evidence of prehistoric occupation, and later inhabitants left some stone monuments. The town originated as the Roman Briva Curretiae (�Corr�ze Bridge�). In the Middle Ages it was the capital of lower Limousin.
