Linus, Saint

Pope from about 67 to 76 or 79, who may have been the immediate successor to St. Peter. St. Irenaeus identifies him with the Linus in 2 Timothy 4:21 and writes that the blessed Apostles passed on the sacred ministry of the episcopacy to Linus. Although his martyrdom is doubtful, he is among the martyrs named in the canon of the mass.
